Key Responsibilities

  • •Deploy non-invasive sensors to monitor canopy light interception in greenhouse environments
  • •Use spectral sensing in visible and near-infrared (NIR) range to estimate sugar and starch content, chlorophyll levels, and plant water status
  • •Develop AI-based computer vision systems to monitor crop development
  • •Integrate sensing frameworks combining multiple data streams into decision-support tools for growers
  • •Integrate data into crop growth and transpiration models
  • •Conduct initial experiments in university growth chambers and greenhouse facilities
  • •Validate in commercial-scale greenhouse operations in the Netherlands and Belgium
  • •Collaborate with Sensor Engineering department and Department of Advanced Computer Science (DACS)
  • •Contribute to ongoing projects within BFFI
  • •Contribute to teaching within the MSc programme in Crop Biotechnology and Engineering
