Key Responsibilities
- Deploy non-invasive sensors to monitor canopy light interception in greenhouse environments
- Use spectral sensing in visible and near-infrared (NIR) range to estimate sugar and starch content, chlorophyll levels, and plant water status
- Develop AI-based computer vision systems to monitor crop development
- Integrate sensing frameworks combining multiple data streams into decision-support tools for growers
- Integrate data into crop growth and transpiration models
- Conduct initial experiments in university growth chambers and greenhouse facilities
- Validate in commercial-scale greenhouse operations in the Netherlands and Belgium
- Collaborate with Sensor Engineering department and Department of Advanced Computer Science (DACS)
- Contribute to ongoing projects within BFFI
- Contribute to teaching within the MSc programme in Crop Biotechnology and Engineering
