Key Responsibilities
- Reviewing papers and working with editors to identify newsworthy research and determine the best way to share the story with the media.
- Researching and pitching to relevant reporters, writing clear and engaging press releases or media summaries.
- Supporting the media approach for major reports and papers by understanding aims and key messages and suggesting media tactics.
- Identifying and helping to handle reputational issues, including navigating contentious research papers to ensure clear and accurate presentation to journalists.
- Managing the press release distribution platform and media database, providing regular coverage reports and analysis.
- Monitoring the Press Office inbox and responding promptly to journalists' requests, and supporting external communications teams with their media plans.
