Key Responsibilities

  • •Model hydrodynamic and mechanical noise generation mechanisms (e.g., flow noise, cavitation, coupled structural vibration) of targets of interest.
  • •Translate physical phenomena into acoustic emission models for system performance modeling.
  • •Define parametrized models capturing variability across operating conditions (speed, sea state, depth, configuration).
  • •Establish realistic parameter brackets for target kinematic parameters and underwater acoustic signatures.
  • •Quantify uncertainties and sensitivities for robust system-level predictions.
  • •Generate synthetic or semi-synthetic datasets using physics-informed models.
  • •Define features derived from first principles for classification models.
  • •Support development of classification models leveraging physics-based principles.
  • •Support development of pure data-driven ML/AI models ensuring physically plausible patterns.
  • •Derive physics-based explanations from data-driven models to support stakeholders' decisions.
