Key Responsibilities

•Providing technical and operational leadership to a team of laboratory technicians within the Metals & Wet Chemistry section
•Managing daily sample workflow, including delegation of tasks to team members
•Completing and overseeing routine and sophisticated laboratory testing including wet chemistry techniques such as titrations, Karl Fischer, pH, UV-Vis, and TLC
•Supervising and supporting ICP-MS and ICP-OES sample preparation and instrument operation
•Ensuring all analytical procedures are conducted in accordance with compendial methods and ALS Quality Work Instructions, including QA/QC requirements
•Authorising results, signing reports, and managing out-of-specification (OOS) results including root cause analysis, remedial actions, and client notification
•Assigning batches, monitoring completion times, and optimising daily laboratory efficiency
•Identifying opportunities for operational improvement and achieving performance targets
•Conducting training for team members and acting as a technical resource across the section
•Ensuring full induction of new team members and participating in performance reviews
•Preparing purchase orders and managing consumable stock levels
•Ensuring compliance with ALS HSE policies, reporting and rectifying any unsafe practices or environmental concerns
•Participating in audits and maintaining the ALS F&P Quality System within the team
